Nation First!
Recently, I
attended one international exhibition at Abudhabi, UAE. Whenever I went out of
India, along with the new country, I understood our India in different
perspective. In Dubai, eight out of every ten people were speaking Hindi. Many
super markets were displaying advt. about having Indian vegetables and groceries.
Restaurants catering Indian food were available everywhere. Parathas, pohas and
idli-dosas were easily available for breakfast. Influence of Indians and Hindi
was so much that sometimes I felt I am in Mumbai where there is more
cosmopolitan culture.
In the
exhibition, India pavilion was very attractive, it was great to see Indian
companies flashing ‘Make in India’s lion logo’. It was indeed a pride moment to
see IOCL getting award on ‘Decarbonizing on scale’ among hundreds of oil and

It was very nice feeling as our company Ryka
Engineering Solutions contributed it’s small share in this project.
In the
exhibition, the profiles were getting exchanged and the meetings and the
discussion were going on. We were walking around 7-8 km daily within the
exhibition venue, the days were hectic and exciting. Other country people many
times praising India for having ample human resources in software and
engineering sector. I felt the power of it while speaking to various countries.
On the very first day I got a message from one
African company that they want to meet me. The message was on exhibition app.
The African gentleman informed me that he will be coming with Galabia to meet
me. I didn’t know the meaning of Galabia, thought let us see. Finally, 65+ years
old man arrived with his civil engineer Galabia who wore traditional attire
with white pagadi (पगडी) like cap and white caftan like
attire. The conversation started with work profiles, and then the timelines of
the career. He started his business in 90’s and it was going very well, but
from last few years as their country was going through internal military war in
two different groups, they were facing covid like situation from many years. He
told me that the war is getting end soon and they will have projects. The
meeting ended with nice greetings. Remembering lockdown, in my heart, I wished
them again to improve the situation in their country.
I had read about the war in north Africa-
Sudan, but was not knowing intensity of it. So, I tried to get it’s information
from authentic resources.

Here is such life of Sudanese due to war, if one goes out to buy food or vegetables, fighting military groups may suspect one as a spy and detain the person for inquiry for hrs. In the fear of torturing, women avoid to go out. The children didn’t go to schools from years. Many of them recruited in the fighting military groups, devasted due to abuses and malnutrition. Food prices are reached at the sky. Kidnapping, robbery, wars and rapes are daily news. There is limited electricity and communication media. Many displaced from their homes, farms and loved ones, living in a shelter in neighboring countries like Egypt, Ethiopia as refugees. The rich Nile River terrains, gold mines, oil reservoirs are no use of them when their life is at the stake.
In Ukraine
also, millions of people are displaced in the neighboring countries. They are
suffering from trauma injuries and loss; they are separated from family and relatives.
They are under continuous fear for their loved ones who are stucked in
Russian-occupied areas or fighting on the frontline.
Our India
is going to these war-torn countries to bring back every Indian. Indian planes
are landing on the border as safely as possible and authorities are culminating
efforts to create corridors to evacuate every Indian from the war-torn region.
People are living in bunkers and walking for miles and days to reach the plane
that will take them to their homeland. (Surely watch Bollywood movie named ‘Airlift’ on one of such real-life story.)
I just imagined what would happen to us if such
a situation ever happened to us, Afghanistan, Pakistan, China and Bangladesh
are our neighbors and the borders are the Arabian Sea. One loves house, land,
property, wealth and car. But in these war-torn countries, people are leaving
everything behind and traveling just to survive.
I want to share a pleasant experience about
UAE. I was waiting for a taxi to go to the bus station after the exhibition
ended around 5:30 PM. The Indian people who were with me were coming towards me
from 100 meters away. Here taxis cannot stop anywhere in some areas. Just then,
an Arab police car arrived. The police told me to go this way and take a taxi.
And immediately a taxi came to me. The taxi driver quickly requested me to board
inside, as taxis were not allowed to stop there but the police had sent it for
me. Laws here are very strict for women's equality and protection. So, I saw
women from many countries working here freely.
As a foreigner when we visit any country, their roads, traffic sense, social behavior reflects image of their country. We Indians are good in many things, our human resources, our moral values are our power! We Indians should take only good things from foreigners. But it is sad to see that the new generation is not adopting foreigners' strict time keeping, insisting on perfection to learn something, but they are adopting many other things which destroy family system and moral values.
To take India to the next level, I think we Indians need to work more
on the following topics:
1. Infrastructure
2. Respect for traffic rules
3. Respect for women
For infrastructure, our country is already progressing,
yet we need to vote the right people, discourage corruption and respect the
social property. Traffic rules need to be adhered all the time.
Thousands of years ago, in the Ramayana, after
Sita had contributed her entire life to the family, she was expelled from the
house. Draupadi was humiliated for no reason, these women fought for their
honor. Since then, every generation has contributed to uplift the status of
women, but still, we have a long way to go. Even today, a woman who works for
the family for years, uplifts the family's prestige, takes the next generation
and the family to new heights, is said to be 'not related' when it comes to
property. Fathers with only daughters are evicted from ancestral property
citing other reasons, but the real reason behind this thought is that
'daughters do not carry the family name'.
Let us work together on these areas!
Let us make our India superpower in all the
avenues!

जेव्हा जेव्हा भारताबाहेर गेले , तेव्हा नवीन देशासोबतच, मला
आपला भारत वेगवेगळ्या दृष्टिकोनातून
समजला. दुबई शहरात तर
दर दहापैकी आठ जण हिंदी
बोलत होते. अनेक सुपर मार्केट्स भारतीय

घेण्याबद्दल जाहिराती दाखवत होत्या.भारतीय जेवण देणारी रेस्टॉरंट्स
सर्वत्र उपलब्ध होती. नाश्त्यासाठी पराठे, पोहे, इडली-डोसे सहज
उपलब्ध होते. भारतीय आणि हिंदीचा प्रभाव
इतका होता की मला
कधी कधी वाटायचे की
मी मुंबईत आहे जिथे थोडी
अधिक कॉस्मोपॉलिटन संस्कृती आहे.
प्रदर्शनात
भारताचे पॅव्हेलियन अतिशय आकर्षक होते, भारतीय कंपन्याचा ‘मेक
इन इंडिया’चा सिंहाचा लोगो
पाहून खूप आनंद झाला.
जगभरातील शेकडो तेल आणि वायू
क्षेत्रातील दिग्गज कंपन्यांमध्ये आपल्या 'इंडियन ऑइल कॉर्पोरेशन लिमिटेड'
कंपनीला 'डेकार्बोनायझिंग ऑन स्केल' यावर
पुरस्कार मिळवताना पाहणे हा खरोखरच अभिमानाचा

छोटासा हातभार लावला आहे या विचाराने छान वाटले.
प्रदर्शनात
कंपनी प्रोफाइलची देवाणघेवाण
होत होती आणि भेटीगाठी,
चर्चा सुरू होत्या. आम्ही
प्रदर्शनाच्या ठिकाणी दररोज सुमारे सात ते आठ
कि.मी. चालत होतो, दिवस
खूप व्यस्त आणि रोमांचक होते. सॉफ्टवेअर आणि अभियांत्रिकी क्षेत्रात
पुरेशी मानव संसाधने असल्याबद्दल
इतर देशातील लोक अनेकदा भारताचे
कौतुक करताना दिसले. विविध देशांतील कंपन्यांशी बोलताना मला त्याची ताकद
जाणवली.
पहिल्याच
दिवशी मला एका आफ्रिकन
कंपनीचा मेसेज आला की त्यांना
मला भेटायचे आहे, मेसेज प्रदर्शन
ॲपवर होता. आफ्रिकन गृहस्थांनी मला कळवले की
ते गॅलाबियासोबत मला भेटायला येणार
आहेत. मला गॅलाबियाचा अर्थ
कळला नाही, मनात म्हणलं बघूयात. शेवटी, साधारणतः पासष्ठ वर्षांचे एक सद्गृहस्थ त्यांच्या
सिव्हिल इंजिनियर गॅलाबियासह मला भेटण्यासाठी आले,
गॅलाबियाने पांढरी पगडी आणि पांढरा
कफ्तान हा पारंपारिक पोशाख
परिधान केला होता. काय
काम करतो आणि व्यवसाय केव्हा सुरु केला इत्यादी गोष्टींवर आमचे संभाषण

मला सांगितले की युद्ध लवकरच
संपत आहे आणि त्यांच्याकडे
यापुढे प्रोजेक्ट्स असतील. छान शुभेच्छा देऊन
मीटिंगची सांगता झाली. जगणं ठप्प करणाऱ्या
लोकडाऊनची आठवण येऊन, मी
त्यांना त्यांच्या देशातील परिस्थिती सुधारण्यासाठी मनातून पुन्हा एकदा शुभेच्छा दिल्या.
मी उत्तर आफ्रिका-सुदानमधील युद्धाबद्दल वाचले होते, परंतु त्या युद्धाची
तीव्रता मला माहित
नव्हती . म्हणून,
मी त्याची माहिती मिळवण्याचा प्रयत्न केला.

आहेत, त्यांच्याशी
झालेले गैरवर्तन आणि कुपोषणामुळे उद्ध्वस्त
झाले आहेत . अन्नधान्याचे भाव गगनाला भिडले
आहेत. अपहरण, दरोडे, युद्धे आणि बलात्कार या
रोजच्या बातम्या आहेत. वीज आणि संपर्कमाध्यमे
मर्यादित आहेत. बरेच लोक त्यांच्या
घरातून, शेतातून आणि प्रियजनांपासून विस्थापित
झाले आहेत, इजिप्त, इथिओपिया सारख्या शेजारच्या देशांमध्ये निर्वासित म्हणून राहत आहेत. नाईल
नदीचे समृद्ध भूप्रदेश, सोन्याच्या खाणी, तेलाचे साठे यांचा त्यांना
जीव धोक्यात असताना सध्या काहीही उपयोग नाही.
युक्रेनमध्येही
युद्धामुळे लाखो लोक शेजारच्या
देशांमध्ये विस्थापित झाले आहेत. ते
युध्दाच्या जखमांनी आणि अपरिमित नुकसानींनी
ग्रस्त आहेत; कुटुंब आणि नातेवाईकांपासून विभक्त
आहेत. रशियन-व्याप्त भागात अडकलेल्या किंवा आघाडीवर लढणाऱ्या त्यांच्या प्रियजनांबद्दल त्यांना सतत भीती वाटते
आहे.
प्रत्येक
भारतीयाला परत आणण्यासाठी आपला
भारत या युद्धात अडकलेल्या
देशांमध्ये जात आहे. भारतीय
विमाने शक्य तितक्या सुरक्षित
सीमेवर उतरत आहेत आणि
प्रत्येक भारतीयाला युद्धाने बाधित क्षेत्रातून बाहेर काढण्यासाठी, कॉरिडॉर तयार करण्यासाठी ,अधिकारी
प्रयत्नांची पराकाष्ठा करत आहेत. लोक
बंकरमध्ये राहत आहेत आणि त्यांना
त्यांच्या मायदेशी घेऊन जाणार्या विमानापर्यंत
पोहोचण्यासाठी कित्येक मैल आणि दिवस
चालत आहेत. (अशाच एका वास्तविक

मी फक्त कल्पना
केली की अशी परिस्थिती आपल्यावर आली तर आपले
काय होईल, अफगाणिस्तान, पाकिस्तान, चीन आणि बांगलादेश हे आपले शेजारी आहेत आणि सीमांवर अरबी समुद्र आहे. व्यक्तीचे
घर, जमीन, मालमत्ता, संपत्ती आणि गाडी यांच्यावर प्रेम असते. पण या युद्धात अडकलेल्या
देशांमधील लोक हे सर्व स्थावर मागे सोडून फक्त जिवंत राहण्यासाठी प्रवास करत आहेत.
मला
संयुक्त अरब अमिराती (UAE) बद्दलचा
एक सुखद अनुभव सांगायचा
आहे. सायंकाळी साडेपाचच्या सुमारास प्रदर्शन संपल्यानंतर बसस्थानकावर जाण्यासाठी मी टॅक्सीची वाट
पाहत होते. माझ्याबरोबर असलेले भारतीय लोक शंभर मीटरवरून
माझ्याकडे येत होते. येथे
टॅक्सी काही भागात कुठेही
थांबू शकत नाहीत. तेवढ्यात
अरब पोलिसांची गाडी आली. पोलिसांनी
मला या मार्गाने जा
आणि टॅक्सी घे असे सांगितले.
आणि लगेचच माझ्याकडे
एक टॅक्सी आली. टॅक्सी ड्रायव्हरने
त्वरीत मला बसण्याची विनंती
केली कारण टॅक्सींना तिथे
थांबण्याची परवानगी नव्हती पण पोलिसांनी ती
माझ्यासाठी पाठवली होती. महिला समानता आणि संरक्षणासाठी येथे
कायदे खूप कडक आहेत.
त्यामुळे मी अनेक देशांतील स्रियांना
येथे मुक्तपणे काम करताना पाहिले.
परदेशी या नात्याने आपण कोणत्याही देशाला भेट दिली की, त्यांचे रस्ते, रहदारीची जाणीव, सामाजिक वागणूक यावरून त्यांच्या देशाची प्रतिमा दिसून येते. आपण भारतीय अनेक गोष्टींमध्ये चांगले आहोत, आपली मानव संसाधने, आपली नैतिक मूल्ये हीच आपली शक्ती आहे! आपण भारतीयांनी परदेशी लोकांच्या फक्त चांगल्या गोष्टी घेतल्या पाहिजेत. पण नवीन पिढी परदेशी लोकांचे काटेकोर वेळ पाळणे , एखादी गोष्ट शिकण्यासाठी परिपूर्णेतेचा ध्यास घेणे या गोष्टी अंगीकारत नाहीत, तर ते कुटुंब व्यवस्था आणि नैतिक मूल्ये उध्वस्त करणाऱ्या इतर अनेक गोष्टी अंगिकारतात, हे पाहून वाईट वाटते .
भारताला पुढील
स्तरावर नेण्यासाठी, मला वाटते की आपण भारतीयांनी खालील विषयांवर अधिक काम करणे आवश्यक
आहे:
1. पायाभूत
सुविधा
2. वाहतूक नियमांचा
आदर
3. स्त्रीयांबद्दल आदर
पायाभूत सुविधांसाठी,
आपला देश प्रगती करत आहे, तरीही आपण योग्य लोकांना मतदान करणे, भ्रष्टाचाराला परावृत्त
करणे आणि सामाजिक संपत्तीचा आदर करणे आवश्यक आहे. वाहतुकीचे नियम नेहमी पाळले पाहिजेत.
हजारो वर्षांपूर्वी,
रामायणात, सीतेने कुटुंबासाठी संपूर्ण आयुष्य योगदान दिल्यानंतरही, तिला घरातून निष्कासित
करण्यात आले . द्रोपदीला अपमानित करण्यात आले, या स्त्रिया त्यांच्या सन्मानासाठी लढल्या.
तेव्हापासून, प्रत्येक पिढीने महिलांचा दर्जा उंचावण्यासाठी योगदान दिले आहे, परंतु
तरीही, आपल्याला खूप मोठा पल्ला गाठायचा आहे. आजही वर्षानुवर्षे कुटुंबासाठी काम करणारी,
कुटुंबाची प्रतिष्ठा वाढवणारी, पुढच्या पिढीला आणि कुटुंबाला नव्या उंचीवर नेणारी स्त्री,
जेव्हा मालमत्तेचा प्रश्न येतो तेव्हा 'तिचा संबंध नाही' असं म्हटलं जातं. फक्त मुली
असलेल्या वडिलांना इतर कारणे देऊन वडिलोपार्जित मालमत्तेतून बेदखल केले जाते, या विचारामागचे
खरे कारण मात्र 'मुली कुटुंबाचे नाव चालवत नाहीत' हे असते.
चला,आपण या
सगळ्या विषयांवर काम करूया!

सर्व मार्गांनी महासत्ता बनवूया!
